In this article, published in the Torts Law Journal (volume 27(3)), I examine the complicated judicial treatment of toxicological evidence to support or refute causation in Australian and US toxic tort litigation. I argue that toxicological evidence can provide probative proof of causation but it also has limitations that could be addressed/complemented by other evidence, such as epidemiological evidence, genetic evidence, and testimony as to differential aetiology
